The sky's clear. Blue. Vivid. Like Benny's eyes.
Like the snow in Chicago, I see it as a good sign.
Nonetheless, I hesitate.
What if he isn't inside?
What if it's a hoax?
I look at the sky again. It's encouraging me.
I put my hand on the doorknob and turn it.
I'm prepared.
I'm prepared for anything.
I'm prepared for anything except what's there.
Benny.
My Benny.
Waiting for me.
For a moment I just stand there. Looking at him. Marveling at how his eyes match the sky.
Then I kiss him.
And everything's all right again.
