Tim and Abby go on their first date.

A first time story.

Written: July 2008. Word count: 300.

It may only have been their first date, it may only have been a lunch date, but already he knew.

He knew she was special. He knew this was the woman for him.

The air sizzled around her; she was like a beacon as she lit the room up. Her enthusiasm, energy and charisma touched and moved him, and he was drawn to her like a moth to a flame.

He could feel the charge between them, feel it growing and growing; feel it becoming more intense, until he felt sure he could reach out and touch it.

He could feel it so clearly that when the waiter came to bring them their meal he was surprised he hadn't suffered an electrical shock.

He had fallen for her. He knew that. He had fallen hard and deeply.

He couldn't judge whether she felt the same; whether she felt even a smidgen of the same affection, the same feelings as he had for her; if she had noticed the electrical charge.

She seemed to like him. She looked at him; she listened to him; she laughed and smiled; she touched his hand, more than once. She was animated, and they certainly had a lot in common. They spoke the same language.

He really liked her. He wanted to see her again. He wanted to tell her he felt there was something between them.

He bided his time until they'd finished lunch and he was about to return to Norfolk. He opened his mouth to say something, but she beat him to it.

"That was fun, McGee," she said, leaning forward and kissing him on the cheek. "We'll have to do it again. Very soon," she added.

Yes, he thought as he watched her walk away, there was definitely something between them.
